Tried to avoid staying outside for too long as it is once again above 100. I took a couple swims in the pool to stay cool.
The game was about ready to start but I’m guessing the TV network wasn’t. The time was 7:06 and the pitcher just stood there for about 35-40 secs waiting for the umpire to signal play ball. The umpire did so as soon as the scoreboard clock changed to 7:07. I’ve never seen them wait that long before to start a game. Occasionally there might be a slight delay, but usually it is barely noticeable that they are holding up the start. If you’re wondering the whole point to the 7:07 (in most ballparks) start rather than just starting at 7 is so that TV networks have a couple minutes to have a short pre-game and then go to commercial before the 1st pitch.
During the 1st inning the guy beside me asks “Are you cheering for Toronto?” So I replied “What gave it away?” His response was first you’re clapping at the opposite times, and second you have an accent. Funny how he didn’t mention the fact I was wearing a Jays jersey and hat. I guess it is not surprising to hear him say I have an accent given I was in Texas.
