Game 105 – Feels like 2002

Once again the Jays turned back the clock and made it look like Washburn was pitching in 2002. For the 3rd time this year Washburn breezed through the Jays lineup. This game he went 8 innings and gave up 1 run on only 4 hits (that is not a typo, only 4 hits). In 3 starts against the Jays, Washburn has gone 20 innings giving up 4 runs on 16 hits and 7 walks while striking out 10. That is good for a 1.80 ERA and 1.15 WHIP. I have no idea how Washburn can continue to baffle the Jays lineup.

Marcum looked good for 5 innings and then seemed to just hit a wall in the 6th. His body language on the mound did not look good during the 6th. I would have had him out after the 1B to Ibanez. Given the Jays lack of offence you couldn’t afford to let Marcum try to fight through the inning. Of course had Scutaro completed that DP off the bat of Reed then Marcum would have got out of the inning having only given up 2 runs.

The Jays managed to waste a rare McDonald HR as that represented their only run of the game. The team went 0 for 4 w/RISP.

Now for the stats:
NAdv: McDonald (2)
P-NAdv: Washburn
DE: Scutaro (4)
