Day 119 - McGowan Needs Surgery

The bad news about McGowan came out that he will indeed need surgery. He will be gone the rest of this season and possibly some of next year. Best case scenario is he is ready to start next season. It certainly hurts their chances of climbing the standings over the final 2+ mths. I don’t know how long this injury was bothering McGowan but he never really seemed to find his groove this season. After breaking out last year he didn’t exactly light up the league, but then again he wasn’t exactly pitching that bad. If he is not ready to go at the beginning of next year they will probably need some rotation help given they are already going to lose A.J. when he opts-out at the end of the year. The hope was that McGowan would be ready to step into that #2 role, but now that will be left up to Marcum.
