I didn’t venture too far from the hotel in the afternoon. Utilized the pool they had there as it was quite warm out.

Within Tropicana Field they have the Ted Williams Museum. A lot of it is about Ted Williams obviously, covering his playing days as well as the time he fought in the war. There also was a section dedicated to all the great hitters of the game. It was really nice to walk through and see all the hitters that have played the game, it was like a mini hall of fame.
The ballgame started at 6:10, an hr earlier than usual, I guess b/c of the concert they have afterwards. This is all part of their summer concert series where they hold a concert after about 6 or 7 Sat home games. Tonight’s performer happened to be MC Hammer as part of the ‘90’s night promotion.
The concert is held in RF where they setup a stage. Everyone who a

ttended the game was allowed to stay and watch from the stands. However, if you had a wristband you could go down on the field (in the fenced off area of RF) to watch the concert. I did not know about the wristband thing before hand but as it works out I ended up getting a hold of one. I was talking to some of the scalpers trying to get a good deal when a guy came along saying he had an extra ticket that he wanted to get rid of (he had a pair of season tickets and was attending by himself). So I ended up buying his ticket and as an added bonus he said he would give me a wristband for the concert that comes w/the seat. I believe the way it works is any season ticket holders or people who bought ticket packages (ie. 5 game, 20 game, etc.) get wristbands.
After the game once they had the stage all setup I made my way down to t

he field. I didn’t really care about being down there for the concert but this was the 1st time I had ever stepped onto a major league field. It was a pretty cool moment for me. I also got to feel what field turf is like (it is the same stuff they use at Rogers Centre). You can notice a little difference when walking on it. When you touch it, it is slicker and has less give to it.
Oh yeah, there was

a concert going on. I was surprised that it was act
ually like a full concert. I thought it might be like 4 or 5 songs but it lasted over 2 hrs. It was pretty bad, almost to the point of it being funny. If it weren’t for the fact that I wanted to soak in every moment I could on the field I would have left. Well that and it is not like I had anything else to do that night. I actually wrote a blog or two while sitting on the field as MC Hammer continued to perform.
