What a great ballgame to sit back and watch. Harden and Halladay were both dealing this game. And to top it off the Jays pulled out the victory thanks to a RBI 2B by Rios in the 9th that scored a leadoff walk. Tonight was an example of what Harden is capable of if he could ever just stay healthy. Put it this way Harden is like Burnett but less healthy and more effective when he actually does pitch. On the other side Halladay just keeps going racking up innings and even strikeouts and finally is getting some wins to show for it.
I was very surprised to see Suzuki still attempting to bunt w/2 strikes. Sure he is the A’s 9 hitter but he is not that bad, it’s not like he is a pitcher.
That swing by O-Bay on the hit and run was one of the most ridiculous swings I have seen. But he was trying to do his job and put the bat on the ball no matter where it was pitched. Since he didn’t make contact it left Stairs as a dead duck at 2nd.
Despite 9 k’s from Halladay, Cust was not one of them in fact Cust enjoyed success against Halladay, picking up 3 1B’s in 4 trips to the plate. Cust is in the middle of a hot streak and he certainly fits the mold of a very streaky hitter.
Onto the stats:
