Burnett was great through 4 innings but got hit in the 5th and 6th. Nice to see the Jays offence come back though in the bottom of the 6th to retake the lead. The Jays were an impressive 4 for 8 w/RISP and there were signs things are starting to turn in those situations. First it was Wilkerson’s hard line drive in the 3rd that was actually about a ft or two right of the second basemen rather than right at him. Then in the 4th Stewart and Barajas came up w/back-to-back bloop hits. Maybe the Jays are finally on the right side of the bounces.
It is not something you will see often but the Jays used 3 lefties to each pitch 1 inning to close out a 1-run game. Only the Jays and their lefty dominant bullpen are able to do that.
I’m sure how much longer the Jays stick w/Wilkerson. I’ve said before I think Lind is ready and should be up here. Wilkerson hasn’t been a good hitter since he had the shoulder problems.
Now for the stats:
NAdv: Wood, Rolen (1)
P-NAdv: Santana, Burnett (5)
ME(r): Rolen (4), Wilkerson (1)
