Doubleheader today and amazingly they are doing a traditional doubleheader. What that means is you only need a ticket for one game to get into both. Nowadays teams prefer doing day/night doubleheaders b/c that way they get gate receipts for 2 games. The only bad thing in this case is I would have been fine with a day/night doubleheader b/c I already had my ticket for Mon’s game. And exchanging my Sun ticket for a future CLE home game does me no good since the Jays don’t play there again this season. Now I’m sure they would have just refunded my money given I was from out-of-town but I decided I would rather keep the ticket stub so that I will have a complete set of 162 at the end of the season.
I have been to one doubleheader in my life. It was on my family summer vacation in 1993 and we were going to our 1st games in Milwaukee. Well when we got to Milwaukee, we were only planning on going to 1 game, but when we got there we found out the next day they were having a doubleheader (a traditional one) so we figured why not go to it too, since its 2 games for the price of one.
There is something wrong w/CLE fans. You have the chance to see 2 games for the price of one and there was maybe 1000 people at the 1st game. I think more people stuck around for the Jays 14 inning loss at Rogers Centre to TEX than showed up for this game (at least for about the 1st 6 innings). People started trickling in later since they were coming for the 2nd game.
If seeing a doubleheader wasn’t enough, I got to see an unassisted triple play in the 2nd game (turned by Asdrubal Cabrera). It must really suck for those people who were at the game but were not in their seats when it happened. One of the guys in front of me was out getting fries and missed the triple play. So of course the person he was with really bugged him about the fact he missed it for the rest of the night.
